I’ve decided to invite my assistant Laura to give her impressions of some of the homes that we toured at the 2017 NW Natural Street of Dreams. I hope you enjoy her observations.
This was my first year touring the NW Natural Street of Dreams, so I was delighted when Caralee asked me to join her. When we walked into the event, the stunning mix of styles of the homes lining the street in Happy Valley enticed us to see more!
The first home that we toured, the Oregon Dream 2017, is a stunning representation of a contemporary farmhouse designed by Stone Bridge Homes NW. We walked up a cement slab path that we later saw replicated in the outdoor space surrounding the pool. I was instantly struck by the beautiful covered porch under the grand second-story gables.
We entered the home into a great entertainment space that featured an open-concept living plan. A dramatic fireplace anchored the great room, which was attached to a large well-designed kitchen. Overhead, an open second-floor walkway framed gorgeous vaulted ceilings finished in reclaimed wood.
Behind the great room fireplace, a private hall leads to the master bedroom. The secluded master suite is light and relaxing, with ten-foot ceilings and a door that opens to the outside living space. The master bathroom is like a spa, with multiple showerheads in a glass-enclosed walk-in shower. A luxurious soaking tub highlights the room’s center, and two sinks on opposite walls provide lots of space for getting ready for the day. An enclosed toilet room offers added privacy and divides the bathroom space from the large his-and-her closet. This spacious dressing room closet is a dream for anyone who enjoys the art of accessorizing!
The second story holds two bedrooms sharing a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. These bedrooms are the perfect size for children, and their second-floor location ensures privacy. Also upstairs are a bonus room, guest bedroom, and guest bathroom. A charming sitting room connects the sleeping quarters to the elevated walkway, which features a wall library. The walkway invites guests and family members down to the great room for the day’s activities.
At the back of the great room, four huge folding glass doors open to my favorite feature of the Oregon Dream 2017: the outdoor space. A covered living room leads dramatically to an open-air dining room, swimming pool, and recreational garage. The outdoor living room has a second fireplace and large grilling station that’s ready to prepare a delicious feast! When the sun is out, you can either swim laps in the luxurious pool or absorb some vitamin D while sitting in the sun shelf and dangling your feet in the water. If it’s time to get more active, you can play basketball in the rec garage, then head to the hot tub for a good soak. By the time you’ve enjoyed all of the outdoor activities, dinner is ready to come off of the grill, and you can enjoy a relaxing evening at the outdoor dining table.
Stone Bridge Homes NW did an extraordinary job designing this home, providing this property with so many thoughtful features. The use of reclaimed wood and steel made for a stunning update to the traditional farmhouse style. This is a really spectacular home.
